French! That’s so awesome! I actually either buy old picture books from thrift stores and use those or print some out from my “Totally Vintage” blog.
Magazines get really repetitive after you use them for a while (especially the ones that are coming out right now). I mean they’re good for maybe getting good posters of your favorite celebrity but that’s kind of the only thing (for me, at least). Old books have more interesting photos, angles, and landscapes that are basically begging to be added to your journal or sketchbook.
So, next time you go thrifting, head to the book section and see if you can find some old picture books or maybe look for science books or anatomy books. Informative books can also have really interesting images. I found one a couple weeks ago about life in the ocean and it had really awesome close up shots of coral and plants that i used for textures and little add-ons in my sketchbook.
